Text from t'Argus
"Kylie Minogue has taken Quentin Tarantino on a trip back to her roots. The Australian pop icon introduced the Hollywood director to a slice of her heritage and a traditional treat—a scone with jam and cream. The pair were filming scenes together in Porthcawl for a new film. The seaside town is just miles from Maesteg, the birthplace of Kylie’s mother, Carol Jones, before she emigrated to Australia in the 1950s at the age of 10. An eyewitness said: "Kylie was talking about Wales because her family are from here. She knows a few words of Welsh - and enjoyed with scone with jam and cream." Another onlooker said: "I had to do a double take. "I recognised him first and thought 'what's he doing here' and then I saw Kylie too! "They were all around the town doing various scenes and members of the local male voice choir were hired as extras." Kylie has often spoken fondly of her Welsh roots and the sense of connection she feels when performing in Cardiff. She uses the Welsh words "nain" and "taid" to refer to her grandparents. She said: "I just think of my grandparents going from like the valleys of Wales to, first they moved to the North Queensland, where there's mangos falling off trees and a snake in the letterbox. "What a change." The pair were in South Wales filming Tangled Up In Blue, a new project by Welsh director Jamie Adams. They were reportedly spotted filming throughout the town with a number of different locations used for scenes."
