If you've pre-ordered the game, the early access single-player starts next week Friday 16 October.

This the official story recap:
https://www.callofduty.com/uk/en/blog/2 ... r#Campaign

And this is probably an easier one to digest-scroll past the video to read:
https://www.ign.com/articles/call-of-du ... tory-recap

To say it's complicated is an understatement.

Is there any advantage to playing the Campaign? By which I mean do weapons you'll use in multiplayer level up, etc?

Also are there quick time events.

I'm trying to decide on whether to bother with it or not.

I suppose a more important question... is it fun?

It's a proper CoD campaign, unlike the last Black Ops version, and has the usual elements.
I think you'd like it.

Weapons don't advance in MP by playing SP, but you do unlock Operators.

https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2026/10 ... maps-modes

At launch, Multiplayer includes:

Core 6v6 Maps
Cachette
Coal
Lithium
Lotus
Mumbai
Munition
Nautical
Reactor U92
Rooftops
Sentry
Silkworm
Transit 213

Ground War 32v32 Maps
Imjin Farmland
Wolves Stadium
Forest

Gametypes - HardCore:
-Domination
-Free-For-All
-Hardpoint
-Kill Confirmed
-Search & Destroy
-Team Deathmatch

New HC modes:
Inflation
Eliminate enemies and collect their bounty of cash, but the more wealth you carry, the greater the target on your back.
Players who reach the High Value Target threshold will have their position revealed to friends and foes alike,
turning Inflation into a balance of hunting down enemy HVTs while protecting your own.
Eliminated players drop a portion of their cash, with an Overtime that activates in the final minutes setting up bigger cash multipliers for wild late game swings.
The team with the most cash at the end wins.

Hijack
Teams fight for control of a single Data Spike that they can carry, throw, and pass to teammates on the way to the enemy Comm Station.
Plant the Spike to score points over time and earn a bonus if the upload is completed, requiring a sustained defence of the area after planting
to prevent the enemy from aborting the data transfer.
Teams swap sides between rounds and the Data Spike occasionally resets to the center when dropped and not picked up in time,
when the spike is thrown out of bounds, or after a successful defuse.

NB. Ground War is 32x32 players - essentially a large scale Domination with vehicles, but soft core and party size is max 4.
