NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 616.56 Reportedly Breaks 8-Bit Monitors,
But Switching To 10-Bit Color Fixes The Flickering Instantly

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-game-ready- ... -monitors/

"NVIDIA’s latest GeForce Game Ready Driver 616.56 is causing display problems for some users, including screen flickering, brightness changes and brief color corruption.

The issue is particularly common at 8-bit color depth, switching to 10-bit has stopped the flickering for many users.

The problem isn’t limited to games, users have reported flickering on the Windows desktop and in browsers across RTX 20, 30, 40 and 50-series GPUs.

NVIDIA is aware of the problem and is testing a fix."

With a new driver out: 617:14 - this is a good time to revisit this guide to Nvidia graphics settings, especially as I mentioned it to Deady the other night.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=577

Gsync works with monitors that are Gsync certified, Gsync compatible and AMD Freesync Premium.

First check that you have your monitor is running at the required refresh rate:
(Mine has a max refresh rate of 170 Hz, but even with a 5070 card, there times when the FPS dips below that, so I set it 144 Hz in Windows.

Windows:
> Settings
> Display
> Advanced Display
> Choose a refresh rate = highest possible / preferred maximum.

If you don't want to read the entire article, skip to this page here:

https://blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101- ... ttings/14/

For reference, there are my settings:
Windows/Monitor:
Maximum Resolution: 2560 x 1440
Refresh Rate: 2560 x 1440 144 Hz

GPU: RTX 5070 Prime OC 12GB
(I use the Nvidia control Panel, but the guide ahs the equivalent Nvidia App settings)
NB. Make sure you select the correct game/program in the CP or App.

Set up G-SYNC > Enable G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible > Enable for full screen mode
Manage 3D settings > Program Settings >
{selected program settings i.e. Call of Duty: Black ops 7} > Vertical sync > On

In game BO7:
Display: make sure the settings match Windows - mine are

• Fullscreen Exclusive
• ACER VG272U V
• NVIDIA RTX 5070
• 144.00
• 2560x1440
• Auto
• n/a
• 2.2 [sRGB]
• Gamma/Brightness 55
• Nvidia Reflex Low Latency = On+Boost

Power Saving:
• Custom
• V-Sync gameplay = Off
• V-Sync menus = Off
Custom Frame Rate Limit = Custom
• Gameplay = 141

Using these settings Nvidia Reflex caps my FPS to steady 138 during playing.
I COULD manage 165 Hz and 162 FPS, but noticed there were the occasional dips, so I stick to 144Hz and 138 FPS.
